Provo, UT — November 18, 2008 — FamilyLink.com, Inc. today announced the immediate availability of their new guidebook for online genealogy, Google Your Family Tree. First announced to the general public in early October, pre-orders for the book surpassed initial expectations and the company had to make last-minute enhancements to warehousing and fulfillment in order to respond to the large number of direct-to-consumer orders, as well as orders from libraries and genealogical societies.

"It's exciting to see the response this title has received in such a short period of time," said Paul Allen, founder and chief executive officer of FamilyLink.com, Inc., the books publisher. "I've known Dan for more than ten years and have always been impressed with his passion for genealogy and his in-depth understanding of technology, as well as his unique ability to share his enthusiasm for this topic with others." The books author, Daniel M. Lynch, served as vice president of business development at Ancestry.com, Inc., a company Allen co-founded back in 1996 and which has since grown to become The Generations Network, the leading company serving the market for family history worldwide.

In April of this year, Lynch shared drafts of his initial manuscript seeking feedback from a dozen industry insiders and authors. Paul Allen was among those who received a hand-bound draft manuscript. "My original plan was to self-publish in small quantities to minimize the financial risk," Lynch shared. "The initial feedback was encouraging, but also highlighted areas that needed work — that's really what I was hoping to learn by this peer review process. The finished product is so much better than the early drafts, I'm so glad I took the time for this feedback loop," concluded Lynch.

Allen later offered to publish the final manuscript and the two discussed details of the joint project throughout the summer. Separately, Lynch had also been serving as a consultant to FamilyLink.com, helping refine plans for the fast-growing WorldVitalRecords.com Web site.
