You provide the topic of interest then select a site from this list provided using the drop-down menu and we'll initiate a query using Google's powerful site: command. In addition to using this search for surnames or place names, you should also consider searching on general topics that may help you better understand how to conduct family history research in a particular country. In the example below, you can see a search directed towards the website for The National Archives of the United States seeking information about the Soundex system. Other topic of interest might include passenger lists, passports, military records, census, and others.

By using the site: commands, you can direct Google to look at their index for a single site containing pages that might include your keyword or keywords. If you wish to query multiple specified sites, you can also do this using the OR operator in conjunction with the site: command.
